OR Bar’s mission is to create an upscale and welcoming environment that sparks conversation, craft the best cocktails possible with unparalleled service, and remain rooted in our community.
PAST
The corner of La Jolla and Santa Monica is steeped in gay history. In 1968, 8228 Santa Monica Blvd was Lilian’s—a restaurant recognized for its historical significance in the West Hollywood LGBTQ+ scene. By 1980, this location had become a steadfast community hub as The Gold Coast, an LGBTQ+ gathering space that thrived for 40 years. In 2023, a new golden boy was born. Paying homage to our rich past, OR—which means “gold” in French—harkens back to our glittery disco roots while embracing our mission as a glamorous new space created to serve the community.
PRESENT
OR Bar is a gleaming beacon of style before you even open the door, thanks to a striking black-and-gold, hand-painted mural by LGBTQ+-owned Londubh Studio. Once inside and under our one-of-a-kind crystal chandelier, it’s easy to see why OR Bar was recently awarded the John Chase Design Award by the City of West Hollywood. An unwavering attention to detail ensures every finish is carefully selected to make your visit unforgettable. Utilizing only the freshest ingredients and premium liquors, our signature cocktails are always served with a smile. At OR Bar, everyone is a VIP.
FUTURE
OR Bar is always pushing forward. From our signature cocktails to seasonal menus and music that ranges from sultry Riviera vibes to all-out disco bangers, OR Bar is both a step back in time and a glimpse into the future. Our continued growth is thanks to the outpouring of love West Hollywood has shown us as one of the city’s newest LGBTQ+ bars. We can’t wait to show you what’s coming next.
All that glitters is OR.
“I love Los Angeles, and I love Hollywood. They're beautiful. Everybody's plastic, but I love plastic. I want to be plastic.”
